Panchero's is just a step above a Taco Bell (which is not saying much). God forbid that people actually believe Panchero's is actually great. The food is at best decent and can be found at any of your typical "Mexican but not really" chains around the country (think Chipotle's and Qdoba's). If you do like semi-Mexican food try BTB just down the street for a slightly higher quality and better prices. And if you want real, tasty, and cheap Mexican food get to the taco truck "El Oasis" on MIchigan or on MLK & Mt. Hope.

Really similar to a QDoba or a Chipotle, but because they make their own tortillas it tastes a lot better. Their burritos are a Lansing institution.

After seeing those terrible commercials, talking about their tortillas are fresh pressed, stay together, and that you get "every ingredient in every bite", and because Chipotle was a little bit further down the street, I figured I'd give Panchero's a try. First, the prices are higher than Chipotle. Not by much, but enough, but if I wanted a veggie burrito, with guac (costs extra!) and chips, I would run up about a 10 dollar bill vs. maybe 8 and change for Chipotle. And I don't know what are so "fresh pressed" about the burritos. I saw the press, but the guy just put the tortilla on some sort of hot table for a minute or two before he put the burrito together. Nothing special. I wasn't a fan of how they did their vegetables either. I'm not sure if they were grilled or what, but they just tasted like mush in the Burrito. It was ok, just not as good as Chipotle. And there isn't exactly anything magical about how they get "every ingredient in every bite". The guy simply took a utensil, and swirled around the ingredients before he wrapped up the burrito. I don't think it had a large impact on the taste. But at least the commercial delivered what they promised as the burrito was well packed, and didn't fall a part while I was eating it. I think it has more to do with the tortilla though. It has this soft stretchy consistency. Not bad, just made me wonder why it looked so funny. But seeing that the entrance on the other side of grand river is near a bunch of bars, I'm sure the usual fanfare here are too obliterated to really taste their burrito. Panchero's gives you a good football sized burrito, but it isn't as tasty, which doesn't matter if you've been dunking your head in the sauce all night.

I prefer Panchero's to Qdoba because the tortillas are homemade and pressed fresh right when you order your burrito. The filling is also fresh, and the service is quick. Panchero's has a rear entrance that is close to all the bars, so it's great for an after-bar snack. It's pretty cheap, too, which is nice. Sometimes I'll eat Panchero's for lunch if I'm in the Grand River-area at that time of day. It's not the best pseudo-Mexican I've ever had, but sometimes, Panchero's just hits the spot.

I think it used to be better, but it's still pretty good for a burrito larger than a VW Beetle. I still laugh when I remember the TV ads from the late 1990s: "What do they put in those burritos that make them SO big?!" They put in exactly what you tell them to put in! I'm a fan: the food is good, the service is what you'd expect from a place like this, and I've never been left unsatisfied after eating here. Oh, and it's relatively cheap, too!

Panchero's is probably the best "Mexican" food in town. This place is famous for their burritos, but I actually go to Panchero's for their quesadillas. The real reason why Panchero's crushes the competition is because they make their tortillas fresh when you order your food. I recommend Panchero's over Qdoba. It's probably tied with Chipotle... Depends on what you want. If you want hard-shell tacos, go to Chipotle. If you want a burrito or a quesadilla, go to Panchero's.

This rating is for the best and easiest free shitter. Walk in the front door. No one ever knows you were there.

I moved away from Michigan several years ago, all the while craving the tortillas from Pancheros in Ann Arbor. I'd make the walk across campus at LEAST once per week. So of course, when I found myself back in The Mitten I had to grab a burrito for old times' sake. Honestly, there's not much to say. This location is dark, dirty, and has almost nothing in common with the Pancheros of my past. I'd choose the Chipotle down the street over here 100% of the time.

This location is the worst location of Pancheros in the area. All the employees are unprofessional and quite strange. Today's visit (mind you I come here maybe once every two months) I was asked by the man making my burrito if I had a cigarette I could give him. Then, the two employees started yelling at each other over frustration. On top of it all, when eating my burrito, I found a crunched up piece of tin foil. It's bad service, lukewarm food, and not worth my money. There are plenty other places to get an awesome burrito in this town. UPDATE: 3/29/15 This location is still getting my 1 Star. It's now a normal occurance for the person who's making your burrito to drop all things and ask the customers for cigerettes. By far the most dirty and unprofessional "Mexican" joint in town.

Giving five stars for this restaurant was no question. Typical college town comfort tex mex, IT IS NOT. Panchero's is better than Q'Doba, Chipotle, and Moe's pit together. Fabulous. My favorite part was the fact that they actually mix everything in your burrito BEFORE they roll it. BRILLIANT

Another "Mexican Grill" chain that specializes in GIGANTIC burritos stuffed with mostly rice...with some other stuff ala Qdoba / Chipotle. Unfortunately, everything was bland. Not much fresh in here except the shells, which they make a great show of preparing in front of you. You get a lot of food poundage for your dollar, and the staff was very pleasant (dinnertime on 6/20/13)

I absolutely love Pancheros, but this location was a huge let down. The food for some reason was very bland. I got chicken tacos and it was not like when I get them from the Eastwood location. It was twice the size they are supposed to be, the tortillas weren't cooked evenly. Parts where chips, and parts where actual tortilla. i asked for sour cream, which this location charges extra for, and guacamole( which all locations charge extra for). It was just huge clumps. they didn't mix it (Eastwood does). I just was not impressed. The fountain drinks were good though. However, there is a reason I have always made it a point to go across town the the Eastwood location. I won't come back to this one.

I've loved Panchero's ever since my early days as an undergrad at MSU. It's cheap Real Food out on the Grand River strip that fills you up without emptying your wallet. As a poor college student Panchero's was a great boon. Even now, if I'm in town I'm happy to stop in at Panchero's for a bite. It's nothing to shout from the rooftops about, I mean a burrito is a burrito, but at least Panchero's is better than most. They press and grill their tortillas to order, which is nice, and everything seems pretty fresh, which I appreciate. A large part of their business comes from the late night bar crowd, but Panchero's is great any time of day. If you're in town for a football game or something, be sure to stop in and check them out.

Quick tasty and fairly damn healthy Mexican on the go. They make their tortillas in house and all the meat is grilled. Great way to avoid greasy stomach syndrome during the lunch hour rush - you can get a decent meal for about $5. Oh yes, and they are open late - until 2am usually. Need a self esteem boost, ladies? Go in on a bar night and the cooks will flirt with ya. Good time to practice tu espanol....

it smells like acapulco in here. and it's dirty like acapulco. hey, what a combo! this place gets 2 stars for providing me an amazing short-cut to the shark back in the years of 2001-2004. you did me right, and never complained. you might have whistled while my sorority ass walked by, wasted, maybe with a shacker...but i didn't mind, i just felt bad for all the other people waiting in line, ordering food, who would wake up the next morning with massive 'reah!

Panchero's is one of my favorite Mexican places. It's fresh, and the servings are huge. The carnitas burrito bowl is the best!

Met a friend for some hip hop convo and a post run meal. I am a Chipotle loyalist so I felt odd eating here. I didn't after I ordered. The menu is similar but the heat is up a notch. This is the perfect solution for those who feel most tex-mex falls flat on heat, spice and kick. They have heat. I'll keep coming. A veggie bowl was fulfilling and more flavorful than I imagined. The pricing is comparable to other text mex fast food spots and reasonable for the amount of food you receive. The service staff was open, enthusiastic about the flavor and fast. It's a good place to hit the right spot for tex mex.

I'm giving this place two Starr due to the fact you could go to any other location and still get quality food and good service this location however has mutants working for it just go take a look for yourself you'll see what I mean. the people are unfriendly. My wife and I haven't been able to leave the toilet so they're unsanitary good luck with your bowels if you choose to eat at this location

Just like Chipotle, but less "fiesta" flavored. Cool tortilla press machine with good, fresh veggies. I reluctantly admit that I like Chipotle's tortilla, meat seasoning better but Pancheros can hold its own.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
